Comprehensive Roll-Off Dumpster Sizes for Every Project

Navigating Local Regulations: Permits and Placement

One of the biggest questions we get is: "Can I put the dumpster on the street?" In Fox Chapel, and much of Fox Chapel, PA, the answer depends on your property layout.

Driveway Placement (Preferred)

If you can fit the dumpster in your driveway, you generally do not need a permit. This is the easiest and cheapest option. lanxe dumpsters recommends this whenever possible. We just need a clear path, free of low-hanging wires or tree branches, to drop the bin.

Street Placement (Encroachment Permits)

If you must place the dumpster on a public street, sidewalk, or right-of-way, you will likely need an Encroachment Permit from the City of Fox Chapel Public Works Department.

• Safety Requirements: Street dumpsters usually require reflective tape and sometimes traffic cones to ensure visibility at night.
• Time Limits: Permits are often issued for a specific number of days.
• Our Role: While the homeowner or contractor is typically responsible for securing the permit, we can guide you through the process and ensure our bins meet all municipal safety standards.

The Cost of Dumpster Rental in Fox Chapel: What Factors In?

At lanxe dumpsters, we believe in "No Surprise" billing. However, it helps to understand what drives the cost of a rental in the Bay Area.

• Size of the Container: Naturally, a 40-yard bin costs more than a 10-yard bin.
• Debris Type: Heavy debris (concrete) costs more to transport and dispose of than light debris (household junk).
• Rental Duration: Our standard rental period is typically 7 days. If you need it longer, we offer low daily extension rates.
• Weight Limit: Each dumpster size comes with a "tonnage cap" (e.g., 2 tons for a 20-yarder). If you exceed this weight, the landfill charges overage fees, which are passed on to you.
• Location: Proximity to the landfill and fuel costs play a minor role. Being in Fox Chapel, you are in a prime service area for us, keeping transit costs reasonable.

How to Prepare for Your Dumpster Delivery

To ensure a smooth drop-off, follow this quick checklist:

• Clear the Zone: Ensure the delivery spot is free of cars, kids' toys, and other obstacles. The truck needs about 60 feet of straight-line clearance to back in.
• Check Overhead: Look up. Are there power lines or low tree branches? The truck needs roughly 23 feet of vertical clearance to raise the bed.
• Protect the Surface: While our drivers are careful, placing plywood sheets down where the wheels will sit provides extra peace of mind for custom driveways.
• Be Accessible: You don't necessarily have to be home for delivery, but ensure gates are unlocked and the driver has your phone number in case of questions.
